Re: OT: Logging-In Issues at Altec User Board
The fellow who provides the internet hosting for the website said we can do it, and, after he's done with Easter (he's running a monster of a sound system for his church's presentation), he said he would get with me with the particulars so we could get going with it.

Wow, has this board has been slow and even MIA over that past few days.
Here's hoping the move to a new server goes smoothly.
Re: OT: Logging-In Issues at Altec User Board
Yeah, between this forum's issues, 'customer no service' AT&T, the latest Firefox, yahoo mail and Adobe PDF reader combined with repeated [thankfully relatively minor] storm damage, my on-line experience has been severely reduced in recent weeks.

The idea of a new site sounds cool to me. Any thoughts on adding to the library with DIY info. GM for one has done tons of work on cabinet design that is scattered around various places. Measurements, cabinet plans, modifications for electronics? that type of thing. I think a few rules for how the info is submitted would be in order and perhaps a panel of experts to approve the material prior to inclusion in the library.

I had to uninstall Firfox a longtime ago it kept crashing on my Vista computer! Same goes for the new IE 8 & 9 the only browser that works decent is IE 7 on my system.
Old Is Gold IMO ! ;)

Hmm, haven't had that problem. Do you have 'open new windows in a new tab instead' checked in Tools/Options/Tabs and it still opens in a new window?
Anyway, FF4.0 doesn't seem to play nice with yahoo's new Beta mail or Adobe Reader X. Freeze ups, can't load/display some pdfs or if it displays, can't save it. The mail often won't display except after one or more times of 'retry' or having to re-boot the entire mail system plus the right side of the mail is cut off by the vertical ad bar. A once 'fast' 1.5 mb DSL now gets routinely reduced to as little as ~256 k from AT&T and only 192 k at the computer, so obviously means graphics/ad intensive pages either take forever to load or just time out. I guess the big build up of IRS and the CDC around the corner combined with the new TV, net phones apps sucks most of the available 100 mb away.

@ GM
I have "No Problems" with Yahoo Mail Plus. I believe it is Adobe X as I just installed it through (Update) recently and I noticed it has an issue launching a pdf. sometimes. I may go back to A. Reader 8.Try uninstalling A. Reader X and going back to a earlier release and see if your issues disappear.
The Time Outs ,
I think it has more to do with your connection speed (Bandwidth) than AT&T's service per say.If you were able to move up to just 5 MB download and 5 MB upload you wouldn't have the "time outs" IMHO but of course it will cost more ! :( I think that the (Time Outs) is a symptom of not enough bandwidth for the pages/applications etc. that you use.
But with software it could be a million things.Unfortunately it will have to be a process of elimination which is quite time consuming.Do you set restore points on your PC ?

No, I was actually telling it to open in a new window, but only because the position of "open in new tab" and "open in new window" were switched in the right click menu. I don't think, or look, when I open in a new tab, I just do it. For me, it was like buying a new/different car and finding that the turn signals were backwards. There were a few other things that annoyed me, but stuff being in a different spot, just to be new/different was a constant annoyance. I also hated the way it looked. I don't know if it was just my computer or if that's the way it was designed to look, but it sort of looked as if it wasn't being displayed properly.

That sounds like a plugin isn't playing nicely. Try disabling them one by one and see if things improve.

I would think they'd have their own dedicated lines.
